Grade specification sheet

WT-CAL Water Treatment and Alkalinity Media

Coarse granular oolitic aragonite for process-water remineralization, alkalinity management and carbonate aggregate duty.

1Intended applications

Suitability for any particular process must be confirmed on a representative sample. Application rates and process performance are not specified by AragoCor.

5Why this grade

ConsiderationBasis
Grain geometrySpherical ooids with average sphericity 0.82 and roundness 0.87, giving a predictable pressure drop in packed beds.
Buffering behaviourNatural buffering point near pH 6.8, with solubility falling as that point is approached.
Dissolution in cementitious matricesCalcium carbonate sand dissolves at a rate similar to the surrounding matrix, producing more even mass loss than the sudden drop-out of silica aggregates (ADS-OA-005).
TurbidityMeasured at 380 NTU per API RP 56. Wash-water handling should be specified accordingly for clarity-sensitive duties.
Certification scope

AragoCor does not hold NSF/ANSI 61 or any potable-water contact certification. WT-CAL is not offered as a certified drinking-water contact media. Buyers whose application requires such certification should confirm the requirement before specifying this grade.
